→ Make progress in your SSR+ novel. Track how long you read, and how many pages you read in that time at the top of your post-it note. Write at least four sentences reflecting on how your reading session went for you, being as specific as possible.
Some Tips: Consider things that have made reading difficult in the past, and try to find a way to get around one tonight. For example, you might find a quiet place to read because you recall that noise has been an issue for you as a reader. Socratic Seminar Work Session
A work session should be 45+ minutes spent making progress on our Preparing for Socratic Seminar assignment. This is a part of your final, formal grade. Please read and follow all instructions carefully. Let me know if you need clarification for any steps. When you finish, you must complete and submit "3/14 Progress Check HW" (found in our Socratic Seminar sub-folder). DO NOT FORGET TO DROP IN YOUR PERSONAL COURSE FOLDER, PLEASE! Test Correctionso Can only be done at home tonight OR after school/ at lunch
- In order to receive half-credit back on your test, you must complete the process in its entirety as follows: o Multiple choice must be corrected by: 1. identifying the correct answer, and 2. justifying that this answer is correct using text evidence (quoted or paraphrased). Extra partial point will be awarded for any reflection on why you initially missed this question in particular. o Summary paragraphs may be re-visited. Any additions must be clearly identified in bold text, and included in a logical place in your original. o Main Idea statements may be re-visited. Any additions or revisions must be clearly identified in bold text. *Those of you who who failed to copy and paste your mini-summaries into the box at the bottom must do so tonight in order to receive initial vs. revision credit. Complete a quiz on ReadTheory by 6:45 a.m. tomorrow morning.
Note: If you have not yet completed your SSR+ Monthly Reflection, this NEEDS to be done TONIGHT. Conferences will take place this week. Also, if you were working on your letter in class today and did not complete "Setting our next SSR+ Goal", this is now late. Both of these documents can be found in our SSR+ sub-folder. Tomorrow, we will have been reading self-selected novels for 30 days! We will complete our monthly reflection letters in class.
You should be approaching (or have already exceeded) 200 pages. We are back on with live homework updates and deadlines.
Tonight, students should be preparing for tomorrow's assessment- our first formal grade of the semester. Many students did not complete last night's homework (EOC Practice I), which was practice for tomorrow's assessment, and which can still be submitted for a maximum possible score of 89%. (A's can only be achieved with accurate and on-time work!) This would be a great way to replace that zero AND prepare for tomorrow's test all at once. Enjoy your evening! Due Monday, 11/28
Step One: Choose one of the resource links below to gain context about today’s author, Walter Cronkite. You should be working to understand who he was, and why he is a noteworthy and historic individual.
Step Two: Using the Google Drive comment feature, annotate our final unit text "On Censorship" by Walter Cronkite, found in our class folder. Your tasks is to use all four skills in your annotations, like we did in class on Friday. Success in this task will be evident in your annotations. Check our model from Friday as needed in our folder ("Name of..."). |
