→ How does Trambley develop his theme in “Village”?
**In this response, you should: [1] show your understanding of how the notes we took on theme last week are working in this story [2] check your SEEAS paragraph notes to ensure a clearly written and thorough paragraph that states your answer, includes evidence and an analysis of how that evidence supports your answer, and a closing sentence. [3] include at least one Level 2 technique in your analysis. Arrive having read and annotated "Village" through the paragraph that ends with "heart" at the top of page 59.
Your annotations should consistently include all 3 Levels of a Text. Be sure you are prepared for tomorrow's Socratic Seminar. You need to bring ALL your unit work to submit: annotated texts, 2 PRESS essays, and at least 4 thorough responses to Essential Questions from each text. Tonight, you should prepare your opinions and supporting evidence from our unit texts, in order to be ready to share your response to our open-ended Socratic Seminar question tomorrow. You may use your notes if you are a speaker in tomorrow's discussion; you will also have access to your texts, so mark your evidence clearly to be able to reference our texts during discussion easily. I've attached the overview document here; you already have a paper copy, and it is also uploaded to our Dystopia Unit folder. EVERYONE, no matter your role, will complete a Listening Evaluation following the discussion. I have attached the Listening Evaluation below so you can preview your task before tomorrow. **Homework: Ensure you are ready to turn ALL Dystopia Unit texts, essential questions, and two PRESS essays (“Harrison Bergeron” and “Embroidery”) on Monday of next week. Everything will be scored for accuracy, so if you need to go back and code your annotations, or expand a PRESS essay, be sure to do so!
Block Two: PRESS Essay for "Embroidery". Look over your model PRESS essay before beginning. Plan for 5 minutes. Write for 20 to answer PRES for "Embroidery". Use your resources from today's class.
Block Three: Read and annotate "The Unknown Citizen", working to consider all 3 Levels of a Text. Code your annotations. Answer at least four of the Essential Questions, posted on Google drive (look for doc: "The Unknown Citizen" Essential Questions) Block Two: Read and annotate "The Unknown Citizen", working to consider all 3 Levels of a Text. Complete a PRES (we are still leaving out the final "S") Essay for either "Harrison Bergeron" OR "Embroidery". If you are still confused about "Embroidery" I would NOT choose that text for tonight's assignment. *Time yourself: plan for 5 minutes, write for 20. We will work to clear up our confusions about "Embroidery" further tomorrow. PRESS format is attached below. |
